How a Coop’s Collections Video Sparked a New Collector
Pokémon has always been a huge part of YT’s childhood. Like many of us, she grew up watching the shows and buying plushies and figurines. But for one reason or another, she never really got into collecting the cards.
It wasn’t until 2025, when the YouTube algorithm did what it does best and recommended a Coop’s Collections video, that things changed. One click turned into another, and before she knew it, that familiar wave of nostalgia came rushing back.
Seeing just how beautiful modern Pokémon cards had become only pulled her in further, and she convinced herself to start a small collection. But one thing led to another, and her mini collection didn’t stay small for long…
A Bidoof Master set Like No Other
As YT explored more of the hobby, one Pokémon in particular kept standing out to her: Bidoof. She loves how genuinely derpy Bidoof is, along with the long-running joke of it being an HM slave and the “God” of Pokémon.
Her Bidoof collection started after she casually mentioned in a group chat that she was aiming to complete a Bidoof master set. Nick, another Bidoof collector, immediately offered to pass along all his spare Bidoofs, which gave her a huge head start.
As a new collector then, that gesture really showed YT just how friendly and helpful the Pokémon community is.
The Cute, The Derpy, & The PSA 1s
As a fan of all things derpy and cute, YT is also drawn to a particular Stunfisk card from the Black Bolt & White Flare set. She even managed to get her hands on the only ARS Grade 10+ copy of the card; another piece she considers another grail in her collection.
Beyond that, she also collects PSA 1s with serial numbers ending in 1. Some standout pieces in her collection include a matching pair of Umbreon EX from Fates Collide and Espeon EX from Breakpoint.
Always collect what you like and spend within your means! There’s no point in collecting something just because everyone else is doing it, or because someone says it’s worth something. In the end, your collection has to spark joy when you flip through your binders or look at your slabs.
What's Next In YT's Collecting Journey?
Overall, YT feels content with where her current collection stands.
Now, she’s casually picking up cards of other Pokémon she likes, such as Vulpix, Ninetales, Cyndaquil, and more.
She’s also on the lookout for interesting error cards and, of course, more PSA 1s. If she ever got lucky and struck the lottery, she joked that maybe a PSA 1 Gold Star would find its way into her collection.
Until then, she’s more than happy collecting whatever makes her smile.
