a Pikachu Collector With A Passion For the Arts
Meet Yellow Pluto Village (YPV), an engineer by day and a passionate artist and Pokémon collector by heart. But he’s not just any collector — his journey is laser-focused on everyone’s favorite electric rodent, Pikachu.
From chasing down dream cards to creating his own custom Pokémon artworks, YPV has blended his technical precision with his artistic side, proving that collecting is just as much about expression as it is about acquisition.
From Eager Collector to Artistic Creator
In 2018, YPV began drawing with a simple goal — to create art that would bring joy to others — after being inspired by OnePikapi, a Pokémon and Disney fan artist on Instagram.
“I had to train for three years before I could make a basic colored sketch. During this time, Pokémon TCG was also gradually changing including new card types such as “alternate arts”. I was inspired to make a personalized card set using just ”alternate“ arts because I am so enthralled with these pieces. “
Fast forward to November 2024, and that idea became a reality: his very first custom card set of 55 cards was officially complete.
Looking ahead, his ultimate goal is to build a custom card brand — one that creates beautiful, affordable cards designed to bring joy to collectors and fans alike.
The Chase For The Pikachu Gold Star
While art became a major passion, YPV’s love for collecting never faded. His creative journey ran parallel to another pursuit; one that had him chasing a different kind of masterpiece — the iconic PSA 10 Gold Star Pikachu.
“Before I even started collecting seriously, this was my ultimate goal. I spent two years hustling — buying, selling, flipping cards — just to afford it.”
Collectors, big or small, will know that Gold Star Pikachu is one of the crown jewels of the Pokémon TCG. A symbol of prestige and rarity, this card holds a special place in the hearts of many Pikachu enthusiasts. And securing one in gem mint condition isn’t just an achievement, it’s a badge of honor in the collecting world.
The Magic Of TCGKL
But collecting isn’t just about the cards, it’s about the memories, the friendships, and the moments that make the journey unforgettable. For YPV, one experience stands above the rest: TCGKL 2023.
“It was a small event, but it turned out to be huge for me. I got to meet Kouki Saitou, an actual Pokémon illustrator, which was surreal. But even more importantly, I met an amazing group of people who have become my closest collecting friends. We’re still a clique to this day.
First, collect what you like. Finally, reduce it to a small number of species or categories. Keep in mind that you can’t collect everything. Throughout your collecting adventure, cultivate close friendships, treat people with integrity, and transform it into a pastime that will enrich your life.
The Pikachu Hunt Continues
While YPV has already secured some of the most coveted Pikachu cards out there, he still has alot of ground to cover.
There are more pieces he wants to add to his burgeoning collection, starting with the 1997 Surfing Pikachu CoroCoro Comics PSA 10 (it’s the last card he needs to complete his Toshinao Aoki set).
And with plenty more Pikachus already out there and even more new ones still to come, his journey to catch ’em all is far from over!
