Building A Community; One Stream At A Time
Mingyuan’s journey into Pokémon collecting began after he started tuning in to rip-and-ship streamers.
At first, the hobby felt purely transactional (and, to be fair, it often can be.) But over time, through watching streamers like CardBlaze, Mingyuan began to see that collecting could be about far more than just opening packs.
Instead, he learned that the hobby was just as much about making friends, cheering one another up, and being pushed out of his comfort zone to meet people in real life, as it was about collecting cards.
Before long, that experience ignited a desire in Mingyuan to replicate what he had received, eventually leading him to start streaming himself.
A New Beginning With Peck's Cards
Over time, Mingyuan’s part-time streaming journey evolved into something much bigger.
With the support of JP and PokeVince, two of his very close Pokémon buddies, Mingyuan became a partner with Peck’s Cards, where they opened a small studio together.
Along the way, they met many more incredible individuals, such as PillowJuju, and began participating in tradeshows, where they met many legends of the local community in real life.
Yet on a day-to-day basis, Mingyuan recognizes that it always comes back to the people within his own community: the same ones who offer support and love when days are tough, and continuously show up for him through both the highs and the lows.
A Special Gengar Gift From A Cherished Friend
Back during his degenerate days, Mingyuan discovered his love for Gengar; something that quickly became known among his friends, especially Bearlyfishing, an ex-colleague and the person who first sparked his interest in Pokémon.
During one fateful TikTok stream, they managed to pull a Gengar VMAX from Fusion Strike together: a card that marked their first “big hit” while degening. Knowing how much Gengar meant to Mingyuan, Bearlyfishing later had the card graded and gifted it to him.
Even though it came back as a PSA 7, Mingyuan knew it was never about the grade, but about the moment it represented and the friendship it symbolized.
This hobby is a marathon, not a 100M dash. Always degen within your means; never let it affect your quality of life, and enjoy every unique experience!
Nothing Matters More Than The Community
At the end of the day, Mingyuan believes the hobby has and will always be about the people.
For him, it’s about bringing those with shared interests together in ways that feel genuine: building connections through everyday interactions, shared moments, and doing meaningful things together, no matter how small the group.
